The FVHRS is dedicated to the restoration and operation of the original BCER Interurban rail cars. This includes the various supporting facilities, such as Stations like Cloverdale, Sullivan and Newton, and the people who worked and lived for the BCER.
It has recently come to light that one such person is S/Cst Charles Painter who was on shot duty on March 19th. 1915, and passed away a few days later.
Recognition of Special Constable Charles Painter was added to the BC Law Enforcement Memorial (BCLEM) Honour Roll during the BCLEM event recognizing RCMP Cst. Sarah Beckett at Brockton Oval, Stanely Park on Sunday Sept. 25th.
Many thanks to Metro Vancouver Transit Police Constable Graham Walker for researching the historical roots of the Transit Police and uncovering S/Cst Painter’s dedication and service to the BCER.
