View from the Train – Honourable Mention
Trains come and trains go, rails of steel gleam in the sun
Always moving through mountains and farmlands
In gilded fields of growing harvest where
New contraptions and timeworn relics cultivate the land.
View from the Train is a small painting that is a depiction of the world going by as you travel through the Fraser Valley in a rail car. You see farm after farm where industrious efforts have gone on for centuries. It is not unusual to see old equipment lying dormant in the fields and new equipment at work. I was captured by the beauty of flowers growing up around these derelicts.
