Do you want to learn how to drive BCER 1225? Talk to the passengers and tell stories about ‘the good old days’ on the rails? Greet and guide passengers on board, or at the stations? We are always looking for volunteers!

We offer a comprehensive (and fun) orientation session for all of our volunteers.

Volunteers are needed on weekends during our operating season of May through to October to help with greeting guests, ticket sales, guided tours and more.

Additionally, we are always seeking volunteers with electrical, mechanical and woodworking skills to help maintain and restore the cars.

For a complete list of opportunities, see below.

Station Greeter

First contact with our guests is made by our greeters. Usually one at the front of the station and two in the station. These volunteers give important information to the guests concerning the station and the trains.

These volunteers really like to communicate with people and love the smiles they give and receive. First contact is so important as it leaves lasting memories. During special events the greeters might dress up in period costumes. Really a lot of fun.

Shop Hero

Through all the seasons we have our shops open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and sometimes on Saturday. And that’s where our heroes preside.

It is those people who spent 7 years and 20,000 man hours to take the wreck of Interurban 1225 and turn it into our flagship operating interurban.

We would like volunteers with any skill to become part of our barn crew. If you need teaching we provide this. Last year we had a young college student learning how to weld. Anything is possible.
