Platform and Patio Expansion Complete
To accommodate increasing numbers of visitors, a platform expansion became necessary. In 2020, the Fraser Valley Heritage Railway Society was successful in being awarded a heritage infrastructure grant from the provincial government that has made possible the construction of various new projects at the Cloverdale campus, including completion of the Cloverdale Station platform/patio to accommodate a two-car consist, installation of a concrete floor in the carbarn annex to control the moisture vapour and to make the area more useable, installation of electric radiant heating in the carbarn and annex and installation of a new rail yard track for use to park the various pieces of rolling stock such as the track mobiles and speeders
In 2023, we plan to make good use of our new platform and patio!

On July 1, 1910 when the British Columbia Electric Railway began passenger service through Cloverdale from New Westminster to Jardine on its new 64-mile electric interurban line to Chilliwack. Cloverdale quickly became the the dominant community in the Fraser Valley, with residents enjoying a state-of-the-art travel experience to downtown Vancouver, via Cloverdale Station, in an hour and a half.

It’s really happening! We really are finally back on TRACK!
Rides on Surrey’s Heritage Rail will start on Saturday, September 4! We will run every Saturday until October 9. The 1225 Interurban will run four trips each Saturday from Cloverdale Station to Sullivan Station and back. This is approximately a 50-minute ride. In addition, you can also ride the Speeder on our Spur line.
We will also be hosting special Halloween Rides from Cloverdale Station to Sullivan Station on Saturday October 16 and Sunday October 17. More information to follow, watch this space!
This is a fun family experience! Bring the kids, and bring Grandma and Grandpa too, they may have stories from when they rode the rails. Experience Surrey’s 110-year-old heritage rail history!

Feel the magic of Christmas as we visit Father Christmas in his secret workshop. You will want to bring your whole family to enjoy our theatrical event that is sure to warm your heart and make you laugh.
This is a heritage railway theatrical experience that takes place on the train run on our 1/2-mile section of our track, with a destination visit to the secret workshop of Father Christmas. Please note the train does not run to Sullivan Station, it travels a short distance up our spur line and back to Father Christmas’s Secret Workshop. The Electric Express experience is approximately 50 minutes long.
This experience will set the scene for the start of a wonderful Christmas season.

At the Fraser Valley Heritage Railway Society; Frank, our mannequin portrayed a 1917 grocery store clerk. I had the privilege of staging the Station. The Fraser Valley Heritage Railway has always been a landmark with a lot of history. The conductors and volunteers on site share their knowledge of the Surrey Heritage Rail through stories told, making them come to life before one’s eyes. To this day, it is through their hardship and passion that generations are able to enjoy a nostalgic ride on a piece of history. This painting aims to capture these special moments in time, of both past and present. It tells of the journey over the years and helps the audience to reminisce in the memory of its legacy.This is an original acrylic painting. .
