Celebrating 25 Years
of Surrey’s Heritage Rail
A Year to Celebrate. A Legacy to Build.
In 2026 the Fraser Valley Heritage Railway Society marks a remarkable milestone. For twenty five years volunteers, supporters, and the wider community have breathed life back into the historic BC Electric Railway. This Silver Anniversary is more than a date on the calendar. It is a year long celebration of local history, community spirit, and everything we have accomplished together.
Throughout 2026 FVHRS will host special events, public activities, and anniversary moments that honour our past and bring people together. It will be a year of connection, storytelling, and pride in what heritage rail means to our community.
At the same time the anniversary becomes the perfect opportunity to look ahead. We are stepping into the next phase of restoration and development, and we are inviting supporters to be part of something truly special.
FVHRS’s 25th Anniversary is an opportunity for our supporters to leave their legacy and join with us on the next chapter of our heritage railway journey.

2) The Restoration and Renewal of Sullivan Station
Built in 1909, the original Sullivan Station is an icon of BCER’s Fraser Valley line. It provided shelter for passengers for more than 40 years, until passenger service on the line ended in 1950.
FVHRS has constructed a replicated station to serve as a functional building once the Fraser Valley line is fully operational with heritage interurbans.
Project highlights
- Construction of a new rail siding at Sullivan Station to allow boarding from the station site
- Doubling of the platform length to accommodate an eventual two-car consist
- Raising the existing station and platform to match the floor level of the interurban making boarding at the Sullivan Station accessible
- Addition of water, sanitary and hydro connections, including construction of a washroom in the station
Sullivan Station is one of the most recognizable landmarks on the Fraser Valley line. With your support we can restore this 1909 station and prepare it to welcome passengers once again as part of Surrey’s heritage railway.

3) Creating a Two Car Consist for the Sullivan Run
For years FVHRS has envisioned operating a true two car consist on the Sullivan run, reflecting how BC Electric Railway trains once carried passengers across the region.
Bringing this goal to life will transform our guest experience and move the Society into a new era of heritage rail operations.
Project highlights
- Infrastructure and track upgrades needed for two car operation
- Electrical and switching enhancements
- Operational planning and training for multi car movement
- Increased capacity for families, school groups, and special events
- Full restoration of Car 1207 to join Cars 1225, 1231 and 1304
A two car consist is one of the most exciting steps in the next chapter of FVHRS. With your support we can create a more immersive, historically authentic interurban experience and strengthen the railway for the years ahead.
